The first Marianna High School (MHS) Multi-Class 1970's era Reunion Cookout was held June 18, 2011, at Citizen's Lodge in Marianna, was such a success that another was held on April 28, 2012. You can see a playlist of all of the videos of this event here. See the Facebook event page for more info.

A great new nature park is open for exploring, hiking, canoeing, and more in Marianna. The Hinson Conservation and Recreation Area, a part of the Chipola River Greenway project, contains a bluff trail along the Chipola River, caves, and many other wonders of nature. It is located just a mile south of the Courthouse on Hwy 73.

Another inclusion in the Chipola Greenway is a trail system accessed a couple of miles north of the Hinson Conservation and Recreation Area, at the north end of Noland Street in Marianna. This short, relaxing video explores the natural beauty of these trails.

A group of Jackson County businesspersons and interested citizens have formed a group called Jackson Yes to spearhead a petition drive to put the liquor laws of the county up for a vote by the residents. Jackson County is one of only six of sixty-seven counties in Florida that does not allow liquor to be served by the drink. It has been over forty years since the voters of Jackson County have had an opportunity to speak on this issue. Jackson County voters can learn more and download a petition at JacksonYes.com
Jackson Blue Springs opened for the 2011 Season on May 30th.
The Florida Panhandle (Northwest Florida), due to its many natural springs, is one of the choice locations in the world for Cave Diving. According to the National Speleological Society Cave Diving Section, "Jackson County may be the best supporter of cave diving in Florida, maybe even in the world." Marianna celebrated the dedication of the new downtown Madison Park May 19, 2011. In addition to park recreation, it includes the new 4,000 square foot, open-air farmers market which will be open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. until noon.
